A Message from Dr. Holt

Dear Randolph Field ISD Families and Community,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am happy you are here and look forward to a great year with all of our Thunderbird and Ro-Hawk families, both new and returning.

Randolph Field ISD is a unique and distinctive school district, and my family and I are truly grateful to be part of this community.  RFISD has a long tradition of service, excellence, and dedication, and I am very proud to be the superintendent of an organization that strives to provide students with an exceptional education.

Randolph Field ISD continues to be committed to serving the military community of Randolph Air Force Base, the San Antonio Metropolitan area, the Great State of Texas, and to making an impact on the world; however, it is important to understand, we do not exist to simply enroll and graduate students.  Enrollment and, eventually, graduation are a result but not our mission, vision, or purpose. We exist to serve our military community, and, ultimately, to foster and support a free society by helping to create virtuous citizens.

It is my belief that the most valuable part of Randolph Field ISD is not our excellent academic and extracurricular programs, nor is it the wide variety of experiences and opportunities our area offers. Instead, it is the relationships with the people of our community and our community values that make Randolph Field ISD rise above the rest.

Captain William M. Randolph, the officer whom Randolph Air Force Base is named after, led until the 17th of February, 1928--when he was killed while flying from Gorman Field to Kelly Field. Ironically, he was on the committee who was to name the new base that would eventually become known as Randolph Field.  It is important that we acknowledge the values and principles that he and the early Randolph Field individuals and team members held, as they have helped shape the core values of our district as well.

These values include rugged individualism, hard work, personal responsibility, integrity, faith, and love of family, community, and country.

I want you to understand that there are elements of individualism and teamwork at the core of our community values. In fact, these ideas are so important that they are echoed twice in our district purpose statement.  It is my hope that our students and the greater RFISD community recognize that our school district was and is a forge of opportunity that is heated by fires of purpose, labor, and reward, but there is no fire without people fueling it.  In my opinion, the greatest advantage this district has is the people who make up our community.  And, together, we are Randolph Field ISD.

Again, I am looking forward to continuing to work with each of you as we keep adding to the district’s many accomplishments. As a team we will find great success in our past, present, and future.  I am fully committed to providing an environment in which students engage in meaningful learning, encouraging the schools to exhibit a culture where positive character development is valued within our school community, and helping RFISD continue to be a community where positive, respectful relationships are valued.

Warmest regards,

Brian Holt, Ed.D.
