iPad Protection Plan
The iPad Protection plan is optional for all elementary and secondary students. Randolph Field ISD will insure parents/students who have paid for the $25 nonrefundable iPad Protection fee. Please refer to the chart below for coverage details.
Accidental damage includes unexpected incidents such as drops, spills, or bumps that occur despite reasonable care. Intentional damage is not covered and includes, but not limited to, the deliberate actions or neglect, such as picking at the case to create holes, removing keys from the keyboard, or damaging ports or buttons on purpose. In some cases, campus administration may review the incident to determine the appropriate response. Intentional damage will result in disciplinary action and may result in other accommodations for students to complete work while fees are collected, and a new device is issued. Additionally, continued use of a district-issued 1:1 device may be revoked.
This plan does not cover the loss or damage of the iPad power adaptor or charging cord, nor does it cover intentional damage to the iPad or case.
The iPad Protection Plan coverage begins August 1st and runs through July 31st of each year. Your coverage begins on the date of purchase and is not retroactive to a date prior to your purchase date. This fee is not prorated for partial years or semesters.
For returning students, the plan must be purchased within 10 school days from the first day of school. For new students, the plan must be purchased within 10 school days of their enrollment. If the plan is not purchased within this timeframe, the student device will automatically default to “Without Protection Plan” status.
If you choose NOT to participate in the Protection Plan, you will be responsible for the full repair/replacement cost, whether the damage/loss occurs intentionally or unintentionally. All repairs must be handled through the Technology Department and may not be performed by an outside service company. These costs may range from minor repairs/replacements such as a case replacement ($110) to a full device replacement, including the case ($439). On average, a broken screen and digitizer replacement is $249.
