so good morning everyone PTO would like to welcome everyone to our third I think it is to you and I set them with our Middle School administrators and we are having a doctor Fox Alara principle Miss Pierce our associate principal we're having mr. Prime Head Up Our IT department and we're having Miss India I don't want to bleach are you allowed to name may I please absolutely thank you but how do you say your loss matcha Gamba Gamba she is our Direction so any question about she is your 2% sure I want to point out to miss pain our counselor is with us she's part of our admin team thank you for joining us and I was going to get to this pain I feel wants to start yeah she's over and then we have to spend CSR middle school counselor what people so yeah I'm just letting people in esqui so I'm we can just stop like right away and fox do you want to start yeah I'd like to say thank you to PTO on specifically straight for putting this together and answer so and and for all of our PTO people have such an amazing organization seriously and I know we appreciate your help even though nearly as much as we would like certainly but we are still feeling the support so thank you thank you and I am thrilled to have this opportunity like after it said this is our third one I believe and it has been really beneficial I'll say the just one we were a little bit nervous could you just never know what you're walking into but I think we had the opportunity to answer some really good questions and some things that came some some questions that we hadn't thought about so it's just a great time to answer those questions and to provide some clarification so thank you for this opportunity please everyone please hear any background noise so that helps us better in this conversation and also you can also type your question in the chat box and then I am happy to read them for you and then we will get the answers go you can start your questions that you may have to any of our team members that we have here I have a question everybody hear me yes my first question is really what is going to happen if we have a ton of the chase on Tampa so thank you for that question I know that is on everybody's mind and justify so understandably so so if a student currently is a student is feeling under the weather or has any kind of symptoms even if they are adamant that it's just allergies or whatever we send them automatically to the nurse and then the nurse goes through her protocols and so if the student is asked to quarantine then that's what they do and then our teachers help them to stay involved in school so if the student then received a positive covid-19 I'm sure so what I will do is we have defined close contact as 15 consecutive minutes of interaction that's within or less than 6 feet without a mask on so that kind of reduces the amount of people that I would then contact because I'm really the only time that our students are allowed to have too much stuff is at lunch time and even then we've worked really hard to social socially distance them as much as pause in the cafeteria so let's say your student was in contact with somebody and it met those within those parameters then I would contact you and let you know that they've been in contact that they need to quarantine for 10 days in Selden hours it was in contact with like the case they would just do school online for those 10 days yes ma'am they would then transition to a virtual status so that way they don't have to miss any school there's no delay in instruction or anything like that then after that if they are face-to-face student yes ma'am yes ma'am that's the only time we really that we allow kind of the bounce back in between the two because it was is no fault of your students certainly so it that's why we would allow them to come back face to face are the two times that I would worry would be at lunch because I'm never too sure who my daughter is sitting with and during PE class Athletics because I'm not sure if they're required to wear their masks during PE / Athletics games with masks on so I'm the only and that they are allowed to take off their masks is at lunch when they're eating or drinking so that means that like let's say they're finished eating lunch and we don't see any food or drinks around them they're asked but their masks well and to add to that when they're in PE and they're outside on the track and they are running then if they social distance themselves then they can take their masks off while they're exercising outside and then the other time is when they're playing their band instrument but when they're not after its band is over then they put their mess back on Miss are so does that answer your question okay Astrid you're muted is it possible to have a lump orientation or some for 6th graders writer hasn't eaten lunch at all because he has no idea what to do I can answer that question your 6th grader wants to come in I'm happy to explain it we have 3 number 1 as my standard options my number to always have something on a bun so on Monday Wednesday and Thursday I have hamburgers or cheeseburgers and on Tuesdays and Fridays we have to have a chicken burger and Friday a spicy chicken burger the OfficeMax pick up the order in the old snap but I am more than happy if you want to come and have him explain it look and see what's available in the menu is available. I want to add to that to the sixth grade lunch is real pretty calm because we only have about 80 students in the cafeteria patio and Courtyard area which is the capacity of those areas combined is about five to six hundred people so there's a lot of space and it's really calm and I have a dull pain Duty so if your kiddo has any issues with lunch they don't know where to go or they lost their card their little scan card or just want to know what's in each line please please encourage them to find an adult's any of us are happy. we have on the TV screen to the daily menu so they can look at the day we met you on the street posted first thing in the morning before I posted online go to Randolph Apartments all the information on Food Services on our on our home page just to be clear the student does not have to pre-order their meal for Middle School is an option go back in and cancel your order is for some reason your students in the order they sit before you can order there's no extra charge for this isn't as well dinner with one question that said I think it has been an if a student accounting can they switch to Virtual running to keep up with glass work until allowed back at school yes let me check on that just in a general sense the going back and forth in this is a slippery slope right because state standard or expectation for attendance for students who are on campus versus students who are all are very different which is why one of the reasons why we can't let students just kind of go in between so if your kiddo and he doesn't the mental today or has an appointment or whatever we would not say because is too significant to be able to be that fluid but like Miss Pierce said in the case of how big is a child is warrant eating for us for a block of time we absolutely will say yes go into the virtual learning settings so that you don't get behind on your school work so I guess that answered that question is that true yeah the other reason we don't want students to go back and forth is because even though students in the virtual setting and the classroom setting are getting the same exact curriculum the way it's delivered and the assignments that whip it can be sometimes very different for example if an on-campus if a teacher says alright kids we're going to get in we're going to work on that is easily and so they might be past creating a video or creating a different kind of project to show Mastery of those of those really difficult for kids to go back and forth if a student debt after quarantine and they have a sibling in another school like the elementary or High School Daft unit will also have to quarantine is that true the last thing I heard yes that is true with a question is there any way to reduce the weight of school supplies in the backpacks I know they don't have lockers so they must carry things but I wiped my daughter's today and her backpack was falling asleep total body weight she's small for her age but I've heard other parents concerned about how heavy that packs are yeah this is been I so appreciate the the question and any the anybody has we will take them because from the time I've been at Middle School since Walker's started disappearing like this is one of the only schools I've been in it in the last while since before Vale on 20 years if they had locker and the only reason we have them honestly is because they were already here but schools are moving away from Walkers or have moved away for their safety reasons so so students in Middle School and High School lacrosse at least the state I think transitioning to just carrying their backpacks so it's not a problem just hears a problem everywhere we've been trying to answer that question for years and years and honestly I don't know the answer to that we encourage teachers at the end of the year when are thinking about school supplies for the following year to consider how students can minimize but they have to carry in their backpack on kids backpack when he was in Middle School and High School was really I don't think we've as teachers like can they combine their subjects in one binder can they leave their composition notebooks in the classroom PE if they're tearing their tennis shoes will get lockers in January is the Hope or the expectation so that should help that that's really all I have we are mindful of it we just at this point don't have solution for it there's a question to that. rolling backpacks allowed they are not know how about that we don't encourage them because it's a safety hazard when you've got clumps of kids and my screen covid we are constantly telling them back up and aren't link and all of that there is more space but when someone is pulling her backpack then the people walking behind that sometimes don't see it and it causes tripping issues there's a medical reason that they need to have a backpack absolutely let's talk about that and that's an option I would really am hoping that we don't have a ton of kids who need rolling backpack because I think it'll I think it'll just cause other problems it's a question when does rowdy practice begin I am still working out the details on that and because it looks so different this year so if your child has signed up and we one of the reasons that it's kind of taking so long as we have we don't have the participation that we had in the past if they have signed up I will be in contact here very soon with my plan for Rowdy. Just a little bit more time please I don't know if it's a question or if it's a suggestion it says one binder with dividers or multiple subject notebook for all classes nuts the many binders so I think that's and I appreciate that so we are on and I are meeting with our campus leadership and I will add that to the list review kind of what's expected for students to carry with them and we'll see if we can't get some weight out of those backpacks they can find has there been any cases of coded on campus and I started crying you want to say something about this can you answer to that question no reported cases so far on campus you can keep up-to-date with of a cobra Trucking so there's a cobra tracker at our site to correct that section 8 deal with all the back-to-school Cove in stuff so we report out any positive cases that will receive as they come in so as of as of today we have had no positive cases recorded and that's in like we can find that link on the district website I'm sorry my phone is ringing their website is on the main page is that big banner that deals with back-to-school Kobe did you click on that take it to a page and then on the side that says covid-19 tracking on the link I dropped in the chat bookmark that will take you right to it could you make it put that way call to India newsletter I'm sure parents are interested enough to see what the status is about that and that's another question that I was emailed so what's the school allowing students to save virtual after December I don't have the answer to that that's going to be a district decision and I expect that we would probably make that decision at the beginning of December and what's the ratio of the ones that are doing virtual and the ones that are in school now we are free dispersed trading. We're 65% back on campus for our specific campus and 35% or virtual for the survey that just went out for the second grading. We had 2/3 of our parents respond we're still missing about a hundred and twenty responses but of those 240 I think she's going to 44 to be exact responses we've got 80% coming back to campus and 20% Bank on and here's the question, Cynthia how can I get a cafeteria card places are captured list when it come to the basement that we just have to number of the week type it in for them another question I came in on the Covetous given by the Randolph District not that I know it now beat when we send a student to the nurse if she determines that the student needs to be coded tested she speaks with a parent and the parent takes the child to do that elsewhere and I assume that the child has to stay at home until he or she gets the test results yes I'd like to just mention that the nurse is actually at high school so right yes okay cuz when my daughter was a sixth-grader I didn't know where the nurses station was absolutely in fact one of our 6th grade groups through yesterday the teacher was showing them around just to make sure that they did know where you know sometimes those of us who come to live here or have been here for years make assumptions and we forget what are even our new 7th and 8th graders are not aware of them particularly this year because things are just so odd but again I will add that to the campus leadership team agenda just to make sure our 6th grade teachers have have had that tour and that information given to sixth grade kiddos and then a question what changes are going to be implemented with more students coming back this coming Wednesday night mixed up we will continue to enforce students wearing masks will continue to remind students to socially distance particularly at lunch when their masks are off students are still cleaning their desks at the end of every. In every class adding to that I don't we don't have any procedures in place to add when our numbers increase and should have ended sure if your question has been answered to the cafeteria cards of a card for the first time so are you asking how the procedure is if she had if she get a card for the store yes can you hear me yes yes ma'am yes I'm my son hasn't been on campus at all since the first orientation while he was still in elementary school so he doesn't have a car. I'm just curious. before the 19th and get him one or does he have to pick one up to self the first day of school when he goes on a 19 sure that he has a car when he comes at first day of school I was just going to say I'm sorry Miss Clark I think I cut you off with that does bring to light just the need were if we have a 15% increase of students on campus or have several kiddos who are going to need their lunch for the first time so we'll need to communicate you and I both about how to determine which of those students are new are new to us for the second braiding. So that we can make sure they have their car in the morning of the 20th when they return we'll get together to plan dr. foxes with the 20th and the 19th and 19th is actually as a teacher in-service work day so students returning to campus any student who's coming campus for the second grading. Is coming on the 20th okay alright I did have one more question if I could you guys mentioned a heavy backpack he has the laptop that we picked up for him cuz he's supposed to carry back he is actually yes because they use it almost in every single classroom okay so that the laptop and then the supplies that are on my list he needs to bring all those things in with them as well the supply list so is your so it's a child is coming for the first I Still Miss Clark yes it is perfect isn't Jason am I remembering correctly. His name is James James Clark and he goes by you're so right yes I think I communicate with him and I think he's in one of my Hotspot groups anyway that's awesome oh my gosh that remember the question sorry everything from the supply list the 20th is his first day of school no ma'am is he'll just bring you know but again I'm going to talk with our CLT about that so that they can communicate with their students but real he's going to need I wouldn't bring like all the markers and whatnot how about this I don't want to speak for our teachers because they're all different at different grade levels in different content areas so I will ask you your unit 8 with students to Google classroom what they need to bring with them on the 20th perfect thank you. It's not a lot of weight but I see a lot of kids that are bringing the Chargers with them to school for their for their Chromebooks if your students would if they charge their the Chromebooks every night that the batteries on those Chromebooks will last of the whole thing no problem so it's it's it's not a lot of weight but it's you know something that if they have a charger in the backpack the pound out anyhow just just a thought on that what there no questions and that's in the chat at the mouth but I do now doctor faxed it was a few question came up about this in the high school Chad and it might be something to address at the middle school as well as some parents voice their concern about volleyball that some schools that came to our campus the players did not grab masks so they were going somewhere why do orcas have to run why do we have to put other words so the answer to that was that UL says well it's optional to wear math answers or happy with it so and I don't know if it's cool that can kind of say well but I will rules RB schools NJ no matter what you wear El suggest so what's a little bit of confusion and I think a little bit of frustration as well sure let me I'm going to need to talk what about that he's our athletic director for All Sports in grades seven through twelve and those decisions often you know they'll take UIL guidelines and regulations and then the athletic directors for the different School within our district get together and then they decide what's going to happen collectively Plus what's going to happen in each of their campuses that's where that communication happen so I need to get with him I totally agree I think if we are man mask for all of us we needs to mandate mask for all of them if they're going to be on our campus just like Cole is saying and I seen another school that we can't even go and watch our kids Spectators in the stands conversely we should be able to allow them or mandate The Mask so I'll get with Pete web and find out what the lowdown is on that and ask him to communicate that out to act like parents can I piggyback on that so in speaking to Pete before our first volleyball game just cuz I wanted to be clear on what it was that we need to tempforce and not enforced I know if I'm middle school games the only time that the opposing players cannot or don't have to have masks on is while they're on the court if they're on the bench it is my understanding that they required to wear masks when they're in a state and they have to wear masks all of their fans have to wear so the only time that we're not requiring them because that's kind of their athletic department the other Schools Athletic Department stance or whatever is that while they're on the court playing they don't have masks on three other time that those students are on our campus and their fans they're required to wear masks so I know that's what we've been enforcing at the middle school games I don't I can't speak for the high school game so that on campus but still but those players are wearing their masks even when they're on the field that's how I would like those players by the opposing team is not so our kids are being held to a higher standard so next time send Returns come I will talk with Coach West about that isn't that certain and valid concern admitting new parents and child well there no current questions in the church right now so I don't know... I have a question possible I had a question about the tendon I don't know if this is before I can tell by the response but yeah let's talk about that cuz it's a big hot mess it is and I know that this is a difficult time and everything is new but I I checked call my son work that he turned in for checking every day and then still the next day it'll come back and say he did not leave work and he has like 7 or so unexplained app I can't see why you have so I know it's it's a trying time but he's just never he's never missed a class that I know of sure so is it happening gif in that one class for your son or across-the-board Justin leave worthy and then yes thank you card and he has a couple in the art class as well but is the same teacher but no other classes has he had a okay let me check with Miss Murphy who's the art teacher and Lead where they teacher about that specific incident maybe I don't I don't know what's happening there but I'll check on that and communicate back with you okay engine although ABS attendance it is a hot mess and the reason is because the expectations for the state are different for our campus kids in our virtual kids like I said and then on top of that the system that we use to take attendance is not very compatible with actual attendance so like attendance lags behind kids that are on campus we can take at end of that day that. . but our virtual students we can't take attendance for them until the following day because they have until 11:59 the previous night to get assignments in so the teachers got to have time to go through their see what they've done or not done and make and Mark attendance so in the butt for teachers when they submit attendance for the campus kids all kids are listed on that attendance so the campus kids are on there as well as virtual students in each class. So they can submit the attendance for their campus kids with without an end just leave the remote kids off so what we decided to do was to just Mark the remote kids absent and then the teacher submits the attendance and then when they when the teacher goes back to check work she does he or she also goes back and to change the attendance to present or delete it as absent felt like that was a better system because the other way and working all remote students present and then going back to mark them absent if necessary prior every teacher to email the attendance clerk message that the student was present whatever but what she has founded she is swamped emails from teachers from parents or whatever so starting on Tuesday of next week starting next week we're going to the system of teachers Walmart all remote students present and then take attendance for their class in class kiddos and then the following day if a student didn't submit the work then they get marked absent we're hoping that will alleviate a lot of concerns we know parents are concerned about those absences one because y'all are a bunch of rule-followers which we love and to you care you're involved and you carry care what's on that record and we love that too I think so are concerned about their transfer applications you know and you know you know that your child has to meet a certain standard for attendance grades and behavior to stay at Randolph if that is your concern please know we will work with you we get it and it is it is a a lot of moving pieces that are not working well together right now so we are trying to get that taken care of one piece at a time but if you have a specific problem like mosquito Fleet One said with the with one teacher weather how to be a glitch in the system please let us know and that is probably on our end and she'd that feature just need clarification about the process or maybe whatever it is we will work with that parent and the you're in a student to make sure that that problem gets taken care of so that everybody's on the same page this time. A question yes I had that beat myself I started earlier than I thought so I'm not like my picture for your guys's my question was well your problem I don't appreciate it I'll text you when he's reached out we're trying not to contact you guys with every little I'm going to sleep over to another question I'm having issues with and that's just distance learning in general and my son is not strong in math we are working granted dad and I are great at math either so you know we tried to reach out for a message with no response Alex when tutoring it what can I do for him you don't over here just stressing about this and getting no help none frustrating when I feel like I are distant and this is how I feel I'm not saying this is what you guys are doing so please don't take it that way now we're do I look like we're being thrown to the Wayside like when it first started and it was amazing I was on Facebook at school this is graduated from there you know mad Randolph has it together look at what they're doing and then in the dark just treading water yes kind of like frustrated I can hear it in your voice I don't blame you I get it certainly and I appreciate you bringing that up to us it is a tough situation and so these are some of those pieces the communication with the teacher I'll look up your son and see what grade is your son in sorry I needed myself 753 school so I'm trying to not interrupt seventh grade so this is what we could do mrs. pain will you work with this child and the teacher to figure out what's happening with math and where the Gap is in communication and support because there is tutoring at least two days a week for our remote learner the feelings of having thrown our remote that because we are feeling very weak teachers are upset about how it's the problem with our remote Learners in terms of how much time they're able to spend with them the problem is is that teachers are in class all day long with campus kiddos and so they're not they can't zoom with their kids why we were doing it before that was when we were all at home so teaching in those two platforms there's something has to give because there's just not enough hours in the day and so we communicated that look it's going to be recorded lessons that kind of thing I don't know that there's another way to do that because again there's just so many hours in the day but we certainly can touch base about the communication piece so that he has the support he needs to do well in math okay thank you I appreciate it and it you know I just I want the best for all these kids not just you know so what can we do is parents I pretty much didn't say they might will do anything for our kids you know and I know you guys will too and so that's why I kind of want to come together as let's just make this bridge so it's a little easier for sure and we always appreciate parents advocating for their kid sometimes it is it can be a little bit rough because you're passionate about your child and we get that but but it does not ever bothering for parents to advocate for their kiddos so thank you for bringing that thank you for discussing at this what is a question in the chat I'm going to read is there a district policy for the online Learners to help promote Insurance pair an ethical testing my middle school and high school students have seen her any instances of online students be able to use or assaults join quizzes and tests in person on Earth do not have that resource yes so I know that we had discussions a lot with our teachers and then also at the district level and Mr Grenier might be able to speak some to this I know that sometimes teachers thinking about they work I know the high school teachers were talking about watching the kids take the test I don't know if that's in the same class. Our teachers have tried to assess students in such a way that cheating is not as easy for example where they respond flipgrid or they write an essay instead of doing Voice or whatever the case may be but we have recognized as a district we don't know that it's possible to absolutely ensure that kids at home aren't cheating and that's unfortunate because while it's not fair student to in terms of at home in bursts is on campus but who is not really fair to is a kiddos who are cheating because in the long run it's going to hurt him more than her to anybody else recent changes we made is with our goguardian set up where teachers can now monitor the Chromebooks so we still touring class to let you know everyone's Chromebook and they can close tab push up stuff we had it set where where they weren't able to do that when the students at home we made a decision to open that up during the school day so you know Monday through Friday 7 to 4 I have it set to teachers are able to monitor what's what's on the Chromebooks during the school day unfortunately there's nothing we can do that's going to prevent them from seeing this though I mean that you can see mice right now but if I'm going to looking at my phone here it's really there's a there's really no way we can we can stop that unfortunately that kind of stuff is a behavior which we can't control from distance I don't I don't know how to solve that I think here's a suggestion for a missed Hunter it took math teacher is Springfield the kids got a zoom link for tutoring she said she would be on until 4 p.m. cutest parent yeah the kids I think. Something thing when I was asking specifically I do appreciate Wendy Jo for letting me know that I did it was until 4 and here's many things have dr.fox enough Middle School leadership team and the PTO share your time with us this morning also our sixth grader is a remote learner and you really appreciate that several of his teachers are live-streaming their classes to help the remote on thank you Miss garage we have any Spirits in this pain and I have split up our remote Learners I can't 6th grade Miss pin take Stephen to Miss Spears takes 8th grade and we split them so that each of us meet with our group twice a week. the shortest 15 minutes in the morning either Monday Wednesday or Thursday Tuesday Thursday just to help them kind of like yesterday we played and then we play a game just tell her just to get to know each other and laugh a little bit because it's part of the fun part of school is just the interaction so we're trying to do that and what else I want to say a big shout-out huge. Spears for their leadership in this group they make this place a really good place to learn is there anything go ahead but we haven't been there yet we're doing remote learning and we're going to be learning until December at least 8 to 10 hours a day all of the teachers in the sixth grade class I mean have been awesome me and my wife are both retired military so we're really used to remote learn your knowledge online and things like that if I remind me of that Jeff Jansen does quizzes and all that online and we try to make sure that she is doing that herself because we know what's doing for or her not doing it going to hurt her in the long run is one thing that I'm kind of concerned about some of the assignments that come in I might not understand it and she don't understand it your email or text bucks the teacher and sometimes the valet because not enough time in the day is going to be an excused absence is there a way if I take the teacher or teacher if they don't quite understand your finally completed like to can we get a date to turn to the time of the end when you give us some clarifying instructions if that's possible to do or just that class have to be completed that day in order to get the class Spears you want to answer that look like as long as your student has communicated to the teacher like hey I was working on this but I have questions they will be counted present for the class far as getting penalized for turning in an assignment in late there is no penalty until I don't even know if we have a penalty it just has to be turned I went I think is it within 10 days are 5 days yet well we've said until the summative assessment for that concept for that unit they can turn work in please note we don't tell our kids that because chairs and some of us adults we would wait until the very last day which is not good for anybody but but what mrs. Is saying is Please don't panic and don't let your kiddo Panic attendance needs to be taken care of which can be done through an email or or communication from the stew has to be from the student to the teacher I'm in the grade is on the other side right right and as far as like that email response if a teacher has first second or third planning. And you an email at you know after lunch sometimes or sometime they won't have a chance to respond to you until they don't have kids in their class every now and then they'll be able to respond. Quickly depending on what kind of activity they're doing in class but there may be a lack but as far as being penalized that's not going to happen in and if it will be taken care of as long as your student reaches out on Google classroom or on Play Def has been happening so far that you could have been great amazing and things like that and we understand that sure. We have had to use that they didn't understand always come back and explain things like that we just don't want to or yes sir I have a question that I was asked to ask is there going to be STAR testing the state of Texas says absolutely there will be STAR testing so you are sure will be Santa going to be counter just like in the past or Sunday this year I'm trying to remember I don't know that they've said whether or not but you know I've been counted there is are the students going to be held accountable for passing a school 5th grade and 8th grade reading and math to go on to the next grade level I don't know yet and yeah I don't think so great so yeah they've already said taking STAAR test but it's not going to their nose Gateway years meaning they don't have to pass reading and math to go to the next grade level I'm in terms of accountability for schools I don't know if that's still be ranked according to their scores for this coming year Star Wars that there's only going to be one administration of each grade level on such a test feel like an eighth grade to didn't pass the math and reading when they take it in early April they won't have to take it again in May or June it's just one time I have a question is there any way that I can have my son come through the car is before he comes back on the 20th to get his classrooms where he needs to be if he can have like a run through sometime next week before he comes back officially since we do we offer individual campus tours for students who are coming back from the remote setting if you'd like for me to you around campus I'm able to do that if you would prefer an officer later we have a trade office class. Equipped with information that they need to give to campus to her if you just need to let us know what day and time you would like to come up we have a professional work day on October does that day works for you I'm available to give a campus tour that's perfect yes I would like to come into my nail down a Time email letting me know what your calendar looks like and I can make it work all right I will do thank you. Is that something that you could make available that ability for all parents that are coming back in December so that they know that they are new kids protect campus tours the ones who are coming back for the second grading. so let me get with Miss 10 I'm wondering if maybe you do a Google doc sign up or something like that we can arrange a number of students exactly that's coming back for the second grading. But when it comes to coming back second semester we do have our worthy class that is getting full class champions forest each class. He also had students remotr office age did a virtual campus tour the campus pictures let students know where things are I can provide you with a copy of one of those too close to the PTO Facebook I think even my my new high school equipment rental for many years he was nervous going into 9th grade because he asked my mom how do I know where the teachers are at but then I asked for a plan or map of the layout which I received but it wasn't really publicly available so it helped him just to get an orientation so I think Kevin Youkilis and it's my 9th grader who is very familiar with Brenda nervous. Randolph Middle School this year was invited to my Google Classroom all types of information the only thing that I don't have in there actually is a top of the campus as well there's a question such as Randolph but I can upload a map in there and also I think I have a couple of the virtual tours already posted in there because I don't know if every parent goes into Google every student would let the parents know that information it is in the classroom counselor paint for students who are newts Randolph for transitioning to Middle School including the PowerPoint presentation if you'll send me the link sign all of that in the bulletin whatever you send me a map that's got all the classrooms or whatever Plus like little trees and the benches so they can come to orient themselves to where they are parents cannot what's in the Google Classroom weekly summaries but they can actually see the Google Classroom so I can post that but like I said every student has already been sent an invite to the Google Classroom the vast majority accepted the invite questions I have one more question this is tilt letter again thank you after what I'm kind of curious about and I know this is not going to be a definite we can answer it 100% Today I get that with the way our our country is in the Bible what is the proposal at this point in time of when Randolph is going to say all the kids have to return it does look like something that may happen this year or disable to continue to distant learn or it's way too far off and we have no answer I can understand that yeah it it's too far off and we have no answer it is it possible a district will say 100% return you're not going to offer virtual stock in January absolutely I think that's a possibility but no decisions no proposals have been made at this one that said he was encouraging all students what the survey expected and I don't know cuz I don't have it expected to everybody lipstick or is that just this is what we're hoping for I think that's what we're hoping for but they won't make any decisions until they have the opportunity to talk closer to that date it like in late November early December with medical armedica dr. Luciano I think here on base and the health Advisory board for the city and all of that. That was just my question I said I know it's something nobody but at least it gives us a little idea of what may be coming down the line thank you letter question and answer incoming students started about the electives like Fine Art elective weed worthy I didn't know that was and this is taking Spanish this year so like if there was a choice or if help. What are your choices is it vary depending on which grade level that you were in in sixth grade all the students take a semester of lead worthy and a semester speed art we did get that concern from PTO and previous year so this past year we actually added description for each of the classes on the course selection sheet at the bottom 6th grade course selection sheet there's a disc knew what we were the until and then on 7th and 8th grade on the back of those sheets of course description for each of the elective elected option that they're given is between take Aaron Bain & R or one semester of Art in one semester Choir in 7th grade they have a fine art elective and they have there component / exploratory Spanish or if they're selected for your books and they get to call you once I get to 8th grade then they have their choices of any three electives now there's a couple that they can't double up on such as they can high school art High School Credit versus just regular 8th grade art they can't do so there are a few restrictions to those but for the most part a Prius able to free select their their elective options and their descriptions have been updated to provide parents with information on what those courses in Fall I see that there is a question about JROTC she is available but once they get to high school are we are actually working with our JROTC to come down and talk to 8th graders about what the JROTC program entails because we start course selection for 9th grade in late January early February so they'll have some pretty good information from each of the different cohorts let the high school endorsements High School are able to make informed decisions when it comes to selecting those courses for their knife for year I would like to say I am so impressed with our students every time when I'm on campus social distance I mean you know why do we have to do this nothing I am just so impressed even when I go to my SEC football games and the kids they're just very that this is like so natural to them and I mean like I think no one had no idea you know what they're going to expect with the temperature weather map all day and so it's like 10 11 hours sometimes the day and I'm sure I am I just I mean I think we can learn so much so yeah I just want to say that I'd like to piggyback on that Miss Spears and I were out in front of the building this morning before school saying the same exact thing about how amazing our kids have been with wearing a mask I was trying to social distance they forget because it's there just kids right but when you ask him if he just remember back up a little bit or whatever and they are so so respectful yeah we appreciate them very very much and I even asked my son yeah I think it's the adult but the kids even at the elementary school you know like when I'm there. you know I'm just I'm just stare so adaptable and ocean all right there's one question is there anything we can do as a PTO and parents to support teachers administrators dr.fox or I got nothing I think things like this are so amazing I love the opportunity for this I love being able to answer these questions and you guys bring so many things to us that we don't see from our perspective and so I appreciate the opportunity to help to clarify and also to go and seek input so that we can make things better so that we can serve you in such a way that our kids can most successful best selves that they can be so other than that no I want to talk to you in fact it's on my list to talk with central office just one more time about can PTO be on campus is there what allowances can we make because the things that you guys do for us are so very helpful and we would love to love to have you back Kristen were you about to answer that I was I was just going to say we so appreciate parents are so involved just whenever you're out in the public or on Facebook or anything like that if people start to kind of poster talk about how something negative is going on please encourage them to talk to teachers directly or to come to us sometimes things are posted or said on the public and we hear it in a five or six people removed so I'm just in Courage people to come and talk to us we are very approachable we may not be able to fix her say what is going on but we will definitely address it and work on our systems are our procedures to make sure that our kids are supported as they possibly can be so just encourage people to come and talk to us directly definitely most definitely Facebook page so people took cannot post on Earth and I'll keep an eye out on the comment positive and so that we can express those issues directly with their parent and then tell them you know please contact know this is just teacher or this week sometimes they don't know who the right person is they're frustrated and I get it you know so definitely and a student is having a hard time and I want to go see Miss pain can they just ask their teacher like hey I I really need to go talk to him somebody your I just really need you know I just need somebody to talk to you 33 to go see you so a lot of teachers recognize whenever something's going on with the student but especially if they're advocating for themselves are able to go there maybe equation such as a test or something like that were there like I need for you to finish this before you're able to go but for the most part they're able to come and see me whenever they need to probably my student would be scared too I think if you know maybe the teacher or somebody said it's okay to ask these questions because these are unprecedented time then if you need somebody to talk to you definitely encourage the students to advocate for themselves right say that we do have a very positive campus and so situations where a teacher have noticed a difference in a suit and they come to me or email me and said hey I notice about the student do you mind checking in on them sit around the campus received your phone and scan and takes them right to a Google doc where they're able to make an appointment with me I have 6th 7th and 8th grade classrooms that provides a link to my calendar where they can make an appointment with me so there's ways for students to contact with me I'm also light in the hallway during Fast and Furious interacting the kids making sure that they know who I am in and where I'm located so we we in the community where were able to emotionally as well we also have our in black on campus her name is Lila Lee and she is out at lunch every day for six grade lunch and 7/8 grade lunch and very approachable I know where students don't know her as well as a no misspent but she's up she can be a great resource and again they kids have access to her each day they just walk up to her and ask if they can talk and she can do that for them play just a question when Brooks let's start back up student center student in Council Etc I will it's really up to the sponsors right now we have academic UIL starting up so that but it's all virtual you know it's not the same as it used to be so frustrating but it is something that students can can start to be involved in again I have not even broke that subject with teachers who are our sponsors for those groups because they are have been working so hard to get there and underneath them for the virtual and the Campus Learning but I will put that on the cltr campus leadership team agenda again I'm just a start those conversations about when things will start wrapping up a bit thanks to all the rental stuff for all the kiddos we are blessed to be a part of this would you like that any more questions we still got some time left are clubs different than UIL yes academic UIL is simply its 14 to set different events things like art music Memory Match starts and grass modern oratory with a lot of different activities that students where they compete against other students from other schools in January clubs on the other hand and we don't let me have the number of clubs at elementary has curaleaf are sixth graders we like for them to be able to come in and get their feet underneath them with learning how to do Middle School it's very very different but for our 6th graders in or so they can join rowdies that soap right now that's for boys and four girls they can join student-to-student and this pain I think you've missed pain sponsors that and she can communicate with with information about what's happening with that and then we've got chicken Council but again I need to talk with mrs. Springfield who runs student council to see, what the plan and then for 7th and 8th graders who qualify National Junior Honor Society in the past misses you Stana Poetry Club mrs. sanguinetti our new choir teacher is talking about doing something so it can't I just need to talk with teachers to find out what their plans are for those groups Sheila love to actually ask a question of you all communication is huge to me is very very important to me because you know Clarity before competency right if we don't know what's happening how can you do anything about it so when we communicate from the campus we send that Weekly Newsletter home and I know it is so much information coming at all of us from all different angles I am always open to input and speak it out so if you have any please give it to me about if there's anything that I can change we can change the campus and how we communicate campus events opportunities for students that kind of thing I try I use more because it's sections out each topic and then I can link things so that if don't want to read more about that you're not stuck with all that text I think that works but if it doesn't please let me know or if you have suggestions for other ways to communicate that would be very helpful to us I'll ask another question since we're all being quiet I understand does Penn say that you're available for the distant learning also if they need to talk with you or get with you and they just make an appointment through youth or yours o link to my Google Calendar that's posted Google Classroom sorry yeah but it when it sets an appointment it generates a Google meet code and I've learned that some students are having difficulty with Google meet so what I do is when I get the appointment on notification I switch it over to a private zoo and then on the day of the appointment I send the student a reminder about what time we're supposed to be okay and the other she mentioned and I did catch the name of the other lady that walks around as a counselor counselor answered my question on that we can just go right through and black of consent form and that consent form was the letter that goes home but if you can't locate it I'll just let me know and I have a copy that I can email you okay I just got that we need him at this point in time that I want to make sure I have that on hand when and if it arises so that okay at my phone is blowing up ask her a question here does the middle school have an athletic booster club we do not have a separate athletic booster club it's all one but I've had it my notes I remember talking with them in early spring last semester about how to help Middle School parents want to be involved with the athletic boosters to get him but I've not since talk with anybody in that but I will do so and I'll add that to the newsletter that's going out hopefully today maybe tomorrow hey Astrid you're muted I actually talked to Leslie there the head of the respect and actually asked them to promote it more to Middle School parents because it's mostly high school but we also have a very active in the middle school so I hope they will promote it to Middle School Texas as well so the parents can be more active so yeah or last name if you think about it we passed that information to your doctor because Ike's because that was my thing to do when we were in Middle School while my son plays football and I would like to have some more information as well but yeah but there's also a band booster does middle school high school as well so you can also be active and join band booster definitely out there and they need our support especially during this time I want to ask the score for all the returning student station so I just want to say that the water station station for the bottles that are open at The Meadows child is able to fill that water bottle doesn't have a water bottle they can always come to us and get one we don't have a huge supply of water but but we usually have some so that we don't want you to go without fluids for the day request my who's the point of contact on Middle School football booster club information and then get in contact with them and then maybe in charge them as well to be more yep that's perfect and then there's a question do you need oh yes that would be fantastic absolutely. Thank you Miss hunter that you asked question because we had that issue at the elementary school and PTO wasn't aware of it and of course as soon as Kiki I was made aware of all that we donated water to because of access so things like that but also I know parents they also want to help and as soon as the other parents found out you know so once they run out the PTO donated sign up for the thing with Middle School let us know and then I know their parents they would love to have in Jamaican water or whatever is needed and I'm at Albany High School but we can talk about that if I go in the water do I get a hold of you after it or is it just best to just drop it off at the sidewalk at the school and let call I want to watch it at that talks about that and then we're going to organize it and then TGO is going to do a sign off and then we going to talk Logistics and everything and then we going to post it was better on Facebook page like I just I just wanted to know if it was an ad it was a needed right now yeah so that's needed in the next couple weeks. thank you so much for bringing that up I think it's a great idea Miss Hunter you know so we can get and just get that taken care of for you if you just let us know what you need to sometimes I know I I don't know what they need I don't know how I can help so you don't want to it's not that I don't want to we just need to know where and we so appreciate that and we know that we get caught up running around on we need this and we need that and then I we forget sometimes that dark out there waiting for us to ask so we need to do a better job of that I need to do their job thank you for that suggestion that would be so very helpful I know it's hard for all of us we're all spinning in circles so but we're here for you whatever you guys need for a lot of parents that I think we all feel that we're here for you guys let us know thank you talking about running in circles this past Wednesday it was 8th October 8th right and I look all my calendar like oh my gosh I have a meeting I am 15 minutes late to this meeting and I try to login and it just says the meeting hasn't started yet and so then I text boy who's running the meeting and I said I'm I'm so sorry I'm late but I can't get in and she's like the meetings next week it's on the 15th and the 15th Daisy a okay good kind of like that sometimes everything's a blur can you please put in the chat and also for the booster also join the bass booster club on Facebook for info so they so they do have a Facebook page so that you can just join the crew and then but again I thank witching out to them and getting more info at the parents and promoted more very helpful Listen to Bright meeting I mean the questions and I mean it's been very informative and I am going to post this video of you Facebook so if anyone wants to go back and she's still listen to it again and alright Doctor Fox 10 mysterious mr. Quin are anything that you want to act I just I just want to say thank you all thank you ask her for putting this together and for our PTO folks loser so who is so involved with the middle school and certainly to mr. Grenier and who is here with us today and definitely without a doubt to keep us sane and running over here at the middle school we are so very blessed to get to work with all of your student and we so incredibly appreciate your support and part of that certainly is things like water donation a lot of it is coming to these pie events and providing input because again we can't serve you to benefit our students unless we know what's needed so thank you all for your time today all right. Thank you so much I had a lot of my questions
